Carpet Cleaning Merton Service Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Carpet Cleaning Merton provides carpet, rug, upholstery and related cleaning services to customers. By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing a booking.
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions shall have the meanings set out below:
Customer means any individual, company or organisation that books or receives services from Carpet Cleaning Merton.
Services means carpet, rug, upholstery and other cleaning or related services provided by Carpet Cleaning Merton as agreed at the time of booking.
Premises means the property or location where the Services are to be carried out.
Technician means any employee, contractor or representative of Carpet Cleaning Merton who carries out the Services.
Agreement means the contract between the Customer and Carpet Cleaning Merton that incorporates these Terms and Conditions.
2. Scope of Services
Carpet Cleaning Merton provides professional cleaning services within Merton and nearby areas, including carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, stain treatment and related services as agreed at the time of booking. The exact scope, type, and extent of the Services will be confirmed in the booking confirmation provided to the Customer.
Any additional tasks requested by the Customer on the day of service are subject to the Technician’s discretion, time availability and any applicable additional charges. No work outside the originally agreed scope will be carried out without the Customer’s consent to any revised charges.
3. Booking Process
Bookings may be made by the Customer through our online form or other booking methods we make available from time to time. By placing a booking, the Customer confirms that they are at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding contract.
The Customer must provide accurate and complete information at the time of booking, including the property address, access details, type and approximate size of areas to be cleaned, specific concerns such as stains, pet odours, or delicate fabrics, and any parking or access restrictions. Carpet Cleaning Merton will rely on the information provided to estimate the duration and cost of the Services.
All bookings are subject to availability. A booking will be considered accepted only when Carpet Cleaning Merton confirms the appointment date, time, and price to the Customer. We reserve the right to decline a booking at our sole discretion.
4. Access and Customer Responsibilities
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that the Technician has safe, unobstructed access to the Premises at the agreed time. This includes providing correct address details, access codes or keys where necessary, and leaving clear access to the areas to be cleaned.
The Customer must ensure that electricity and water are available at the Premises for the duration of the Services. If parking is required close to the property in order to carry equipment, the Customer must inform us of any restrictions and is responsible for any parking costs or permits required, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
The Customer is responsible for securing and removing valuable, fragile or easily damaged items from the areas to be cleaned, and for notifying the Technician of any item, surface or area that is particularly delicate, damaged or at risk of colour run, shrinkage or other adverse reaction to cleaning.
If the Technician is unable to gain access to the Premises at the agreed time, or if the Services cannot be carried out due to issues such as lack of utilities or unsafe conditions, Carpet Cleaning Merton may treat the booking as cancelled by the Customer and may apply a cancellation fee in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
5. Pricing and Estimates
Prices are generally provided based on the information supplied by the Customer at the time of booking. Any price given before inspection is an estimate only, based on average conditions and sizes. Final pricing may be adjusted on site if the actual areas, condition of the carpets or upholstery, or access differ significantly from the information previously provided.
All prices will be stated in pounds sterling and will include applicable taxes where required by law, unless clearly stated otherwise at the time of quoting. Any additional work or treatments requested on the day, such as stain protection or deodorising, will be quoted and agreed with the Customer before the work is undertaken.
6. Payments
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment for the Services is due on completion of the work on the day of service. Carpet Cleaning Merton may accept various forms of payment such as card, bank transfer or other methods as notified to the Customer. Cash payments may be accepted by prior agreement only.
For certain bookings, including large jobs, commercial work or repeat visits, Carpet Cleaning Merton may require a deposit or full advance payment to secure the booking. Any such requirement will be communicated to the Customer at the time of booking.
Where payment is not received on completion, Carpet Cleaning Merton reserves the right to charge interest on overdue amounts at the prevailing statutory rate and to recover any reasonable costs incurred in pursuing payment, including debt collection and legal fees.
7. Cancellations and Rescheduling
The Customer may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving notice as early as possible. Notice must be given through the same booking channel or by another method we expressly accept.
If the Customer cancels or reschedules with more than 48 hours notice before the scheduled start time, no cancellation fee will usually be charged, and any deposit may be refunded or transferred, subject to our discretion.
If the Customer cancels or reschedules with less than 48 hours notice, Carpet Cleaning Merton reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 50 percent of the agreed service price, which may be deducted from any deposit paid or invoiced separately.
If the Technician attends the Premises and is unable to gain access, or the Services cannot be carried out due to Customer related reasons, this may be treated as a late cancellation and the full service fee may be charged.
Carpet Cleaning Merton will make reasonable efforts to attend all bookings as agreed. However, we may need to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances beyond our control, including severe weather, traffic disruptions, illness, equipment failure or other unforeseen events. In such cases, we will aim to give as much notice as reasonably possible, and the Customer will be offered an alternative appointment. We will not be liable for any indirect loss resulting from a cancellation or rescheduling.
8. Customer Satisfaction and Complaints
Carpet Cleaning Merton aims to provide a high standard of service. If the Customer is not satisfied with any aspect of the Services, they should notify us as soon as possible, and in any event within 48 hours of completion, providing details and, where possible, photographs of the issue.
Where a complaint is justified and relates to service quality, Carpet Cleaning Merton may, at its discretion, arrange for the Technician to return and re-clean the affected area, or offer a partial refund or other appropriate remedy. We do not guarantee complete removal of all stains or odours, especially where they are permanent in nature or have damaged fibres, underlay or backing.
9. Limitations of Service
Carpet Cleaning Merton will use reasonable care and skill and follow industry practices in carrying out the Services. However, certain limitations apply:
Some stains, wear, sun damage, bleach marks, pet damage, or heavy soiling may not be fully removable. Pre-existing damage, discolouration or defects may become more visible after cleaning.
Shrinkage or colour run can occur with certain fibres, backings or dyes, particularly where items were not originally colourfast or have been previously damaged or cleaned incorrectly. The Customer must inform us of any known issues or manufacturer care instructions.
We do not move heavy furniture or items that may pose a risk of damage or injury. Where items are moved, this is done at the Customer’s risk unless otherwise agreed. The Customer is responsible for removing small items and breakables from the work area.
10. Liability
Carpet Cleaning Merton will exercise reasonable care in providing the Services. Our liability for direct loss or damage to property caused by our negligence or breach of these Terms and Conditions shall, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the lesser of the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item, or the total price paid for the specific Service during which the damage occurred.
Carpet Cleaning Merton shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or economic losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Services or these Terms and Conditions.
We shall not be liable for any damage or issues arising from pre-existing defects, wear, improper installation, unsuitable materials, failure to follow manufacturer guidance, or any matter that we could not reasonably detect prior to or during the provision of the Services.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Insurance
Carpet Cleaning Merton maintains insurance cover appropriate for the nature of our business. Evidence of insurance may be provided to Customers upon reasonable request. The existence of insurance does not extend or increase our liability beyond that set out in these Terms and Conditions or the policy terms.
12. Waste, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
Carpet Cleaning Merton aims to operate in line with relevant UK environmental and waste regulations. During the provision of Services, we will handle waste water, soiling and residues arising from the cleaning process in a safe and responsible manner.
Where possible, waste water will be disposed of using suitable drainage at the Premises, such as toilets or external drains designed for such use, in accordance with local requirements. The Customer agrees to allow reasonable use of such facilities where available and safe to do so.
Any solid waste or removed materials will be handled in line with applicable waste regulations. If significant waste removal is required beyond normal levels associated with standard cleaning activities, additional charges may apply, which will be discussed and agreed with the Customer where practicable.
The cleaning products and methods used are selected to be effective and appropriate for the items and conditions treated. Where the Customer requests particular products, or where specific environmental requirements apply, this must be discussed with us in advance, and may affect the method, cost or feasibility of the Services.
13. Health and Safety
Carpet Cleaning Merton follows reasonable health and safety practices while working at the Premises. The Customer must inform us of any known hazards such as loose flooring, electrical issues, or other risks that may affect the Technician’s safety.
Customers and other occupants should keep children and pets away from work areas and equipment during and immediately after cleaning. Some areas may remain damp for a period after cleaning, and appropriate caution should be exercised to avoid slips or other accidents.
14. Data Protection and Privacy
Carpet Cleaning Merton collects and processes personal data such as names, addresses, and contact details solely for the purposes of managing bookings, providing Services, processing payments, and handling enquiries or complaints.
We will take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and will not sell or share it with third parties except where necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, or with the Customer’s consent.
15. Amendments to Terms and Conditions
Carpet Cleaning Merton may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in law, practice or business operations. The version in force at the time of booking will apply to that particular Agreement. Customers are encouraged to review the Terms and Conditions periodically.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute or claim arising from or related to these Terms and Conditions or the provision of the Services, without prejudice to any statutory rights that may apply to consumers.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision shall be deemed deleted, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written confirmation or communication setting out the Services and price, constitute the entire agreement between Carpet Cleaning Merton and the Customer in relation to the Services. The Customer acknowledges that they have not relied on any statement, promise or representation that is not set out in the Agreement.
By booking or using the Services of Carpet Cleaning Merton, the Customer confirms that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
