Terms and Conditions for Carpetcleaning Merton
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Carpetcleaning Merton provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning services, together with related upholstery, rug, and stain-treatment services where agreed in advance. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. For the purposes of this document, references to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Carpetcleaning Merton, and references to “you” and “your” mean the customer receiving the service. These terms apply to every booking unless otherwise agreed in writing. They are intended to be clear, fair, and consistent with UK consumer law and general service standards.
Our services are provided on a scheduled appointment basis and are subject to availability, property access, and suitability of the materials to be cleaned. Carpet cleaning can improve appearance, hygiene, and freshness, but it cannot guarantee complete removal of every mark, odour, or stain. Different fibres, dyes, underlays, adhesives, and previous treatments may affect results. By booking a carpet cleaning service with Carpetcleaning Merton, you acknowledge that cleaning outcomes may vary depending on the condition of the item and the limitations of the material involved.
These terms should be read alongside any written quotation, booking confirmation, or pre-service notes provided to you before the appointment. If there is any inconsistency between a written quotation and these terms, the written quotation will apply only to the extent of the inconsistency. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights under UK law.
Booking Process
Bookings for carpet cleaning Merton services may be made through the channels we make available from time to time, including telephone, email, online enquiry forms, or written request. When you request a service, you must provide accurate details about the property, the areas to be cleaned, access requirements, flooring type, and any known issues such as heavy staining, pet contamination, damp, mould, or previous treatment. We rely on the information you provide when estimating time, pricing, and suitability.
A booking is only confirmed once we have accepted the appointment and, where applicable, received any required deposit or advance payment. Until confirmation has been issued, any proposed date remains provisional. We reserve the right to decline or reschedule a booking where access is not suitable, where the condition of the item presents a health or safety concern, or where the requested service is outside our normal scope. Carpetcleaning Merton may also ask for photographs or further information before confirming the job.
You must ensure that the property is ready for the appointment at the agreed time. This includes allowing safe access, moving fragile items where necessary, and ensuring that electricity and water are available unless otherwise agreed. If furniture removal has not been included in the booking, you are responsible for relocating lightweight items in advance. We may refuse to proceed, or may adjust the scope of the work, if the area is unsafe, cluttered, or inaccessible. Any delay caused by restricted access may be charged as waiting time where reasonable and proportionate.
Prices and Payments
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and may be provided as fixed fees, estimated fees, or hourly rates depending on the nature of the work. Unless stated otherwise, quotations are based on the information supplied at the time of booking and may change if the actual conditions differ from those described. Carpet cleaning Merton pricing may vary according to room size, carpet condition, stain complexity, occupancy, travel constraints, parking limitations, and the level of pre-treatment required.
Payment is due in full upon completion of the service unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing. For some bookings, we may request a deposit to secure the appointment or to cover special-order products or extended preparation. We accept payment methods that are notified to you in advance. If payment is not made when due, we may suspend further work, withhold completion documentation where relevant, or charge reasonable recovery costs as permitted by law. Any bank charges, failed payment fees, or card processing charges applied by your provider remain your responsibility.
Where the job expands beyond the original scope, for example because additional rooms are added, further stain treatment is requested, or extra time is required due to contamination or adverse site conditions, we will normally discuss the revised price before continuing. If immediate continuation is necessary to prevent damage or meet safety requirements, we may proceed and notify you as soon as reasonably possible afterwards. All additional work must be paid for in accordance with the agreed rate or a reasonable rate consistent with the service provided.
Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment for carpet cleaning Merton, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations made with sufficient notice may not attract a charge, but this depends on the circumstances and whether costs have already been incurred. If specialist products, reserved labour, or travel arrangements have been committed to the booking, we may retain all or part of any deposit to cover those costs, provided this is reasonable.
If you cancel at short notice, or if access is not available at the agreed time, we may charge a cancellation fee or a call-out fee. A missed appointment includes situations where no one is available to grant access, where the address supplied is incorrect, or where the property is not ready and the work cannot safely proceed. If we arrive and cannot complete the service because of a customer-side issue, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation. We will always act reasonably and proportionately when applying any charge.
We reserve the right to reschedule an appointment where circumstances beyond our control prevent attendance, including severe weather, vehicle failure, staff illness, emergency situations, or safety concerns. In such cases, we will aim to offer a new appointment time. Carpetcleaning Merton will not be liable for indirect losses arising from a genuine rescheduling event, provided we have acted with reasonable care and have sought to minimise disruption. This does not remove any rights you may have where a service has been negligently delayed or where a legal remedy applies.
Service Standards and Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that carpets and surrounding areas are suitable for cleaning. This includes telling us about pre-existing damage, delicate fibres, colour instability, moth damage, loose seams, or any past cleaning attempts that may have affected the fabric. Where appropriate, we may carry out a preliminary inspection and, if necessary, a test clean on a discreet area. No stain removal method can be guaranteed to work on every carpet, and some stains may become more visible after cleaning if they were previously hidden by dirt or residue.
You must keep children and pets away from work areas during cleaning and while carpets are drying. You should not walk on wet carpets unless we advise that it is safe to do so. We may leave equipment on-site for a short period if drying or extraction requires it, and you agree to look after such equipment with reasonable care. If you request that items be moved, you accept responsibility for informing us about hidden cables, breakable objects, personal documents, or valuable items within furniture or near the work area.
If you ask us to clean items that are especially fragile, antique, dyed, or otherwise high-risk, you accept that the method may require caution and may not produce uniform results. The service will be performed with reasonable skill and care, but carpet cleaning Merton cannot promise that every mark will disappear or that shrinkage, pile distortion, or colour change will never occur on vulnerable materials. Where we believe a requested cleaning method could be unsuitable, we may refuse to proceed or suggest a lower-risk alternative.
Liability and Limitations
We will exercise reasonable care and skill in delivering our services. If we cause direct damage as a result of our negligence, we will assess the matter fairly and, where appropriate, offer repair, re-cleaning, or compensation in line with our legal obligations. However, our liability is limited to foreseeable loss directly caused by our breach of duty. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.
We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, inherent defects, hidden faults, wear and tear, or any deterioration that would have occurred regardless of the cleaning process. This includes weakened fibres, old stains, dye transfer from previous treatments, seam separation, discolouration due to sunlight, water marks from historic incidents, and issues arising from unsuitable previous cleaning products. Carpetcleaning Merton is also not liable for damage caused by items left in place contrary to our instructions or by inaccurate information provided by the customer.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any claim connected with a service will normally not exceed the amount paid for that specific service, except where the law requires otherwise. Nothing in these terms affects your rights to seek a remedy where the service is not provided with reasonable care and skill or where goods or materials supplied are faulty under applicable legislation.
Waste Regulations, Hygiene, and Disposal
We operate in accordance with relevant UK waste handling, environmental, and hygiene requirements. Where cleaning generates waste water, removed residues, disposable cloths, vacuum contents, or packaging, these materials will be handled responsibly and disposed of in a lawful manner. We may not discharge waste into drains or systems where doing so would breach local utility rules, environmental controls, or site-specific restrictions. The handling of wastewater, especially from heavily soiled or contaminated carpets, may require special care and may be subject to practical limitations.
If a carpet or rug contains materials that may present contamination risks, such as bodily fluids, mould, pests, hazardous substances, or biological waste, you must tell us before the appointment. We reserve the right to refuse to clean, to isolate, or to dispose of any item if doing so is necessary to protect health and safety or comply with applicable waste rules. In such situations, carpet cleaning Merton may recommend specialist handling rather than ordinary cleaning. Any associated disposal fees, specialist collection charges, or protective equipment costs may be added to the booking where agreed or reasonably required.
You are responsible for informing us of any hazardous materials on the premises. We do not provide general hazardous waste removal services unless expressly agreed in writing and lawfully permitted. If we discover unsafe or unlawful conditions during the visit, we may stop work immediately. We will not be liable for refusal to continue where doing so is necessary to comply with environmental, health, safety, or waste management obligations.
Complaints, Remedies, and Governing Law
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, you should raise the issue within a reasonable time so that we can inspect the matter and consider a remedy. Where appropriate, we may offer a re-clean, partial refund, or another reasonable solution depending on the facts of the case. Any complaint should be supported by clear information, and where possible, photographs taken soon after the service. We will review complaints fairly and aim to resolve them without unnecessary delay.
If a re-clean is offered, you agree to allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue and return to the property if required. A re-clean is not an admission of liability and may not be suitable where the carpet has been altered by third parties, used after cleaning, or treated with unsuitable products. For carpetcleaning Merton services, any remedy will be proportionate to the issue identified and will take account of the age, condition, and nature of the item cleaned.
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in another UK jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will continue in full force. These terms represent the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the service, unless varied in writing by Carpetcleaning Merton.
By confirming a booking, you agree to these terms for carpet cleaning Merton and to any written service details provided at the time of appointment.
